I am Frank Starr, born and raised in Indiana, graduated from Indiana University, former Army officer and veteran of 40 years in journalism. Along the way I’ve been a reporter, editor, Moscow correspondent, Washington bureau chief (twice), op-ed page columnist, editor/co-publisher of community newspapers, and assistant professor of journalism. My employers included the City News Bureau of Chicago, Chicago Tribune, The Baltimore Sun, Radio Liberty, and Northwestern University. I worked for four years in the Soviet Union, five years in Germany, and made many reporting trips to the Middle East and Asia.
